So, what would Andy Beshear do? Leave it to Candy Andy to politicize everything

We noted, just two days ago, that, in contrast to foul, fetid, fuming, foggy, filthy Philadelphia, Lexington, Kentucky had seen only four homicides thus far in 2026. Alas! that number will have to be updated:

5 shot, 1 killed at a Lexington park, police say. 4-year-old among those injured

Five people were shot, including one who was killed, in an incident at Lexington’s Charles Young Park Saturday night, according to Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers and Gov. Andy Beshear.

Beshear announced the shooting while speaking at a Kentucky Democratic Party dinner at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Lexington Saturday, but Weathers provided additional information shortly after at the scene of the shooting.

Weathers said a 4-year-old, a 14-year-old and two adults were shot and taken to a hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The person who died hasn’t yet been identified. Officers were called about shots fired at 6:48 p.m., and police already working at the park responded.

There’s more information on the shootings in the article, but here’s one more quote from much further down:

“To stop mass shootings, we have got to elect Democrats that will actually do something about it,” Beshear said in his speech.

Leave it to Candy Andy to politicize everything.

As we previously reported, Philadelphia has 4.77 times Lexington’s population, but had, as of Monday, August 10th, 27 times as many murders. Philly is and has been dominated by Democrats for decades — the last Republican mayor left office when Harry Truman was President — the governor of Pennsylvania is a Democrat, and Dems control state House of Representatives. It is illegal in Pennsylvania to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, but somehow, some way, the gang-bangers and wannabes in Philly, many under 18 years old, are all packing heat.

From the Pennsylvania State Police:

A License to Carry Firearms allows you to carry a firearm concealed on your body or in a vehicle. Carrying a firearm in a vehicle or concealed on the body, except in your home or fixed place of business, without a valid license is a felony of the third degree.

It is a misdemeanor of the first degree when a person without a valid license carries a firearm in a vehicle or concealed on their body, except in their home or fixed place of business, if they committed no other criminal violation and are otherwise eligible to possess a license.

Pennsylvania law makes several exceptions including police officers, security guards, on-duty military, and people engaged in target shooting. An exception for hunting, fishing, trapping and dog training requires a valid Sportman’s Firearm Permit. (See “Who can apply for a Sportsman’s Firearm Permit?”) All exceptions are found in 18 Pa. C.S. § 6106(b).

You must be 21 years old to be issued a concealed carry permit in the Keystone State.

Anyone over 21 years of age may carry a concealed firearm without a permit in Kentucky, if they are otherwise legally allowed to have a weapon. Yet somehow, some way, those added firearms control laws in mostly Democratic Pennsylvania, and fully Democratic Philadelphia, have not gotten homicide levels in the City of Brotherly Love as low as they are in Lexington.

So, what does the Governor of Kentucky mean by electing Democrats will “do something” about mass shootings? Even with most of the gang-bangers in Philly being prohibited from owning firearms, they still manage to shoot at their enemies whenever the mood and opportunity allow them. There are three related articles at the bottom of this piece, all from The Philadelphia Inquirer, documenting shootings, including the murder of an off-duty police officer, in the city since our previous article, shootings that Pennsylvania’s stricter gun control articles didn’t stop from happening.

It’s actually pretty simple: the oh-so-moderate Democrat who is, sadly, the Governor of Kentucky and is running for the Democratic presidential nomination really wants to take away your constitutional rights under the Second Amendment, because nothing that the Democrats have tried short of that have stopped the bad guys. And even that would not stop the gang-bangers, but only disarm the law-abiding people of this country. The Democrats claim that President Trump is a horrible fascist, but it was the actual fascists, the Nazis, who disarmed the public.
