Every once in a while, the left will say the quiet part out loud

In his Twitter — I refuse to call it 𝕏 — biography, Nichloas Decker describes himself as “GMU econ PhD student, liberal, aspie, bi. I post interesting papers. Michael Kremer stan. I ❤️ optimal auction design. Spend more on drugs. Open borders now!” He includes an ‘LGBTQ+’ rainbow flag, a globalist icon, and a Ukrainian flag.

So, what does a liberal, Asperger’s syndrome afflicted, bisexual think about freedom and democracy? Well, he doesn’t like it very much, tweeting:

How do we ensure humanitarian foreign aid for the future? It’s incredibly unpopular with the public, but is, without a doubt, the most important and effective thing the government does. I think the important thing is winning elite opinion, and taking it out of the hands of voters

And continuing:

Trump is, unfortunately, the voice of the people here. There are more important things than that, though.

Gee, Mr Decker, tell us you’re an elitist authoritarian without saying you’re an elitist authoritarian.

The distinguished Mr Decker has told all 19,900 of his followers — I got it because I follow one of his followers — that it doesn’t matter what you peons and rubes think, the “elites” are better than you, and should rule. This is hardly a new thought: Plato posited it in The Republic, sometime around 375 BC, that the state should be ruled by philosopher kings, the “Guardian” class, because they were the wisest men around, and their decisions should be enforced by the army.

Mr Decker recognizes that what he wants is “incredibly unpopular” and that President Trump is the “voice of the people” on the subject of humanitarian foreign aid, but, to him, that doesn’t matter; the decisions on this should be “tak(en) out of the hands of voters.”

While there was some discussion, a gentleman styling himself Falsifier wrote:

We agree on taking things out of the hands of the voters at least

Remember how The Washington Post added its tagline, “Democracy Dies in Darkness”? Our good friends on the left kept insisting that last year’s election was about saving democracy, saying that it was absolutely vital to elect Democrats to do. Yet, the Democrats having lost the last election, we have a few of the good people on the left telling us that they do not want the voters deciding anything. Apparently democracy means having leftists win, and nothing more.

The examples I cited are, like me, nobodies when it comes to actually influencing people, which might be why they were willing to say the left’s quiet part out loud. But I’ve no doubt that a lot of our friends on the left feel exactly the same way.
