We have previously noted when the Lexington Herald-Leader deliberately structured a story to conceal the sexual orientation of an offender, so I was pleasantly surprised when the newspaper told the truth on Wednesday:
Former EKU professor pleads guilty to child pornography charges, prosecutors say

A former Eastern Kentucky University professor who was found to be putting cameras in men’s bathrooms and locker rooms has pleaded guilty to federal sex crimes.Kyle Knezevich, 36, pleaded guilty to attempting to produce child pornography charges Tuesday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Knezevich originally faced charges of voyeurism, possessing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor, promoting a minor in a sexual performance, five counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor and five counts of possessing matter of a sexual performance of a minor, according to court records.
On Sept. 7, an EKU student located a hidden camera inside the Whalen Complex on campus. An investigation revealed that the camera had been placed in the bathroom by Knezevich, who at the time was a professor at the university. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Knezevich’s home and electronic devices.
The search revealed Knezevich produced recordings of both adult and minor males, from approximately 2009 through 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
There’s more at the original.
What isn’t at the original is Mr Knezevich’s mugshot. While the McClatchy Mugshot Policy states that their concern is for “those arrested but not convicted of a crime,” Mr Knezevich had pleaded guilty; he has been convicted.
Of course, his mugshot at age 36 might not make too much difference; Miss Six’s report notes that the prisoner, who is scheduled to be sentenced on April 16th, faces a minimum of 15 years to a maximum of 30 years in the penitentiary. WLEX-TV reported:
A search of Knezevich’s home revealed that he produced recordings of both adult and minor men from 2009 through 2023.
A previous Herald-Leader story reported:
At least one of the victims caught on Knezevich’s camera appeared under the age of 12 years old, according to court documents.
Sounds to me like he needs to get the full thirty years in prison!
According to my second-grade cipherin’, that means that he started this stuff when he was just 21 years of age, if not earlier. Parole guidelines mean that Mr Knezevich must serve at least 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole; 85% of 15 years is 12 years and 9 months.
Spying on younger boys? When the other prisoners learn for what crimes he has been incarcerated, to borrow a phrase from Leroy Jethro Gibbs, he will not do well in prison.
