One of the things that I do at The First Street Journal is to use primarily — though certainly not exclusively — liberal sites as sources, because it stifles complaints that I’m using only evil reich wing sources, which our good friends on the left will not trust. Thus, when I use LGBTQ Nation, no one can throw a hissy fit that the source is opposed to homosexuals and the ‘transgendered.
Volleyball players sue their coach for accepting a trans teammate
The player hasn’t caused any unfair advantage or injuries, but the lawsuit claims she has stifled women’s “free speech.”
By Mira Lazine | Monday, November 18, 2024The players on San Jose State University’s women’s volleyball team are now suing their team’s head coach, university, and Mountain West (MW) Conference officials for allowing a transgender woman to play on their team. Five teams have recently tried to forfeit their matches with the team because of the trans player.
“(T)ried to forfeit”? No, they succeeded in forfeiting the seven games they had been scheduled to play. We recently reported on one of the forfeits, in which the University of Nevada at Reno had to jump through some hoops to do so, because the players refused to play against San José State University and their boy disguised as a girl.
Brooke Slusser, the team captain, is leading the suit along with two other former players on the SJSU team and four athletes from other universities. They allege that their Title IX and First Amendment rights were violated due to allowing a trans woman to play on their college team.
Further down, we get to the bias in the news story:
The transgender player in question has not come forward to the press, and contrary to claims that the player poses “safety risks,” there is no evidence that anyone has been injured as a result of her playing on the sports team.
“The transgender player in question”? He has been identified as Brayden Fleming, who claims to be a girl named “Blaire”, in several news sources. Who does author Mira Lazine think she’s kidding? And perhaps no one has yet been injured, but Mr Fleming’s spikes are reported to be faster than those of the real girls. Perhaps Miss Lazine is arguing that because Mr Fleming isn’t totally dominating the matches, it doesn’t matter that he’s a guy.
The player in question has been playing for three seasons now without issues with her participation. She has been compliant with NCAA requirements for testosterone levels throughout this entire period, and has never violated the requirements. There is no evidence of discrimination against cisgender female athletes due to her participation.
If Mr Fleming has been compliant with testing for testosterone levels, that means that San José State has known that he is male all along. That there were no issues concerning his participation means that the University successfully concealed that he’s really male. Apparently some of the female players on the SJSU team never noticed that Mr Fleming was male, which must mean that he had already had surgery, or that he was really good at concealing himself in locker rooms and hotel rooms when the team played away games. Both things could be true.
It also means that, as has been previously reported, potential women’s volleyball recruits were not informed that there was a male on the team. How many would have simply ended the recruiting pitch had they been told about this?
It’s simple: the truth was not told. There are obviously legal privacy issues involved, if Mr Fleming did not want his ‘transgender’ status revealed, but not telling that truth means that other players, both on the SJSU team and others, were kept in the dark.
