We were greatly amused when the media began touting then Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane as “the Democrats’ New ‘It Girl’.” Salena Zito wrote, in 2013:

A former midlevel prosecutor’s ambition and rise in Pennsylvania politics is a sign of the times in American politics.

In under a year, Kathleen Kane has gone from an unknown Lackawanna County assistant district attorney to the powerful position of the state’s attorney general. If you believe the gossip surrounding her, she is a prospective candidate for every elected office imaginable, including governor, U.S. senator and president.

Fortunately for the Keystone State, Mrs Kane crashed and burned spectacularly, charged, tried, and convicted for perjury, and sentenced for 10 to 23 months in jail. After her release — she actually served only eight months — she wound up with a driving under the influence of alcohol arrest and parole violation as well, because the Democrats’ new ‘It Girl’ just wasn’t very smart. But at least she actually is a girl!

CBS Mornings Touts New Democratic Sweetheart: She’s Transgender!

As a new Congress is sworn in, the liberal media fall into a classic pattern of finding new far-left stars. In this case, Friday’s CBS Mornings fawned over Sarah McBride, Delaware’s new (and only) House representative. McBride’s claim to fame? Well, it’s being the first openly transgender member of the U.S. House.

Unsurprisingly, it also gave CBS a chance to vent underlying criticisms of the Republican bathroom policies.

Fill-in co-host (and Saturday co-host) Dana Jacobson had the flowery set-up:

A new Congress is being sworn in today, and history will be made when Sarah McBride takes the oath of office as the first openly transgender member of the U.S. House. At 34 years old, the Democrat has quickly risen in Delaware’s political ranks, and now she will serve as the state’s sole representative in Washington. Scott MacFarlane hit the road to learn more about her and her priorities in the new Congress.

Wikipedia and the other news sources do their best to throw Representative McBride’s real name into the trash bin of history, but I did find the article “From Tim To Sarah: AU Student Body President Unveils Big News,” so, in accordance with our published Stylebook, we shall refer to Mr McBride by his real name, Tim.

It will be amusing, I suppose, as congressional courtesy would normally have members refer to Mr McBride as “the Gentlelady from Delaware,” but that, of course, would ‘legitimize’ Mr McBride as being a lady, which he most certainly is not. Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC 1^st District) would have an especially difficult time.

There were many factors which contributed to the defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris Emhoff in the 2024 presidential campaign, and the backing of the Democrats when it comes to holding that girls can be boys and boys can be girls might have contributed to that happy outcome. That San José State University had a male playing on the women’s volleyball team, leading to numerous forfeits, in the month before the election could only have exacerbated the situation.  The Biden Administration withdrew a proposal to require colleges to accept ‘transgender women’ as real women on athletic teams, after the election, a tacit recognition that some of the Democrats’ far left ideas weren’t selling well with the voters.

So, the “new Democratic sweetheart” might not wind up all that popular among the left, not because they don’t wholeheartedly support transgenderism, but because they understand that, in the end, it’s a vote loser.
