Either the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, UNRWA, didn’t properly check Mohammad Abu Itiwi’s background, something which would be hugely improper considering the circumstances in which the UN worked in Gaza prior to the war, or they just didn’t care, or the UNRWA leadership in Gaza knew who and what he was, and were deliberately providing Hamas with ‘civilian’ cover.
In one way, it really doesn’t matter: the outcome was the same, a Hamas commander was given wide access, wages, access to UN vehicles, and civilian cover. Is it any wonder that the Israeli government do not trust the United Nations and its various organizations and projects?
Israel says it killed Hamas commander who doubled as U.N. aid worker

JERUSALEM, Oct 24 (Reuters) – Israel’s military said on Thursday it killed a Hamas commander who took part in the Oct. 7, 2023, assault on southern Israel and also worked for the U.N. aid agency in the Gaza Strip.
The agency, UNRWA, has been accused by Israel of having many employees who double as members of Hamas and other armed groups. The U.N., after an investigation, said in August that nine UNRWA staff were possibly involved in the Oct. 7 attacks and fired them.
The Israeli military said Mohammad Abu Itiwi was killed on Wednesday. It said he was a Hamas commander and had been involved in the murder and abduction of Israeli civilians. It also said he had been employed by UNRWA since July 2022 and that his name appeared on a list of the agency’s employees.
UNRWA confirmed Itiwi was a staff member and was killed on Wednesday. It said Itiwi’s name was included in a letter UNRWA received from Israel in July that included a list of 100 staff members who were also allegedly members of armed groups, including Hamas.

It could be asked whether the UNRWA workers who worked with Hamas, in general, were previously Hamas who infiltrated UNRWA as part of a plot, or were relief workers who were appalled by conditions in Gaza and had their sentiments change. But Mr Itiwi was a “Hamas commander”, someone who had achieved some sort of leadership role in the terrorist organization, which means that he had to have been part of Hamas for a while. He was employed by the UNRWA “since July 2022,” which was just 15 months before the October 7, 2023 attack, and that makes the odds that he wasn’t Hamas when he signed on to the UNRWA vanishingly small.
The failed League of Nations, and subsequent United Nations, were meant to be institutions of Western civilization, to make the “world safe for democracy.” But it is clear that the UN has been captured by the barbarians of the Third World, countries which do not support Western civilization as anything more that a Potemkin village cover to seek money and power from the actually civilized countries, and continue with their own less civilized ways.
