The left have complained loudly that Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter and his support of that wholly radical concept of Freedom of Speech was a horrible, horrible thing, but while conservatives are no longer censored on that social media site, Mr Musk has allowed those on the left the same access they always had.
And thus we have Tristan Snell being able to vent his frustration that former President Donald Trump will become President again at noon on January 20th.
Who is Mr Snell? His self-written Twitter biography states that he is a “Lawyer, commentator, fighter for democracy. Prosecuted Trump University @ NY AG. Author of TAKING DOWN TRUMP. Host of the Tristan Snell Show on Apple + Spotify.”
Clearly from his tweet reproduced at the right — it’s a screenshot of the tweet[1]It is my policy to take screenshots of tweets that authors can edit or delete., but you can see the original by clicking on it — Mr Snell is greatly disappointed that Mr Trump was allowed to run for election in 2024. I will admit it; I cannot see how someone who claims to be a “fighter for democracy” believes that the American voters should not have been allowed to exercise their free and democratic choice to vote, or not vote, for Mr Trump, in an election he could easily have lost. Mr Snell, it seems, would have denied the American people their free and democratic choice.
I did point out to Mr Snell, who attacked Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and at the time of the second farcical impeachment Senate Minority Leader, that “Mitch McConnell did exactly what his constituents in Kentucky wanted him to do. In 2024, President Trump carried 118 out of 120 counties in Kentucky, winning 64.47% of the vote, a higher percentage than he won in 2020.” Mr Trump carried the Bluegrass State with 62.09% of the vote in 2020, and 62.52% in 2016, meaning that he had greater support in the last election than before. It sure seems as though Mr McConnell did not fail the people of Kentucky.
In 2024, the former President won 77,303,569 votes, 49.81% of the total, and 50.75% of the actually serious votes; I do not regard the votes for third party candidates who have no chance at all of winning as serious. Mr Snell, that “fighter for democracy,” would have disenfranchised those 77,303,569 people who voted for our incoming President!
Mr Snell wasn’t “fight(ing) for democracy,” but fighting for the Democrats!
Did the “Mainstream media fail us”, if by “us” Mr Snell means the Democrats? A week prior to the election, the Media Research Center found that ABC’s, CBS’s, and NBC’s coverage of the campaign was 85% negative toward President Trump, while 78% positive toward Vice President Kamala Harris Emhoff. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Will Bunch, a hard-left columnist, wanted the credentialed media, particularly newspapers, to have attacked President Trump mercilessly, more mercilessly than they did, even as virtually all of the major dailies endorsed Mrs Emhoff and his own newspaper attacked Mr Trump at every opportunity.
The mainstream media did everything they could to persuade the voters to vote for the Democrats; it’s just that the American voters didn’t accept their message.
Mr Snell is, of course, only one of the Trump-hating people expressing their opinions and frustration on Twitter. There are plenty more, many of them still spouting nonsense that Mr Trump could be arrested before the inauguration, and claiming that he didn’t really win.
It’s just 15 minutes after noon as I’m posting this, which means that in just 23 hours and 45 minutes, Donald Trump will be President again, and the left will beweeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth. Schadenfreude is so delicious!
