Representative Brittany Pettersen Silverii (D-CO 7^th District) wants us to know that she is a fighter, fighter! for the Little People, us commoners, and thus she tweeted this message:

As a mom, sometimes you just make it work. I’ve been on a waitlist for childcare, so Sam has been flying back and forth with me to DC. He’s taken 24 flights in 6 months!

Finding safe, accessible childcare shouldn’t be this hard. In Congress, I’m fighting for families like ours!

Mrs Silverii has full access to the House of Representatives Child Care Center, so that’s not the problem for her. She famously took her newborn into the House for a speech, using him as a prop, a publicity stunt, when she could have left him with the Child Care Center.

Mrs Silverii has an estimated net worth of $930,000, so while that makes her among the least wealthy members of Congress, she’s hardly poor. Twenty-four flights in six months tells us that she has been choosing to take her young son back-and-forth between her home district and the wretched hive of scum and villainy on the shores of the Potomac River, rather than leaving him with her husband. Mr Silverii is a founder and partner in The Bighorn Company, so he’s not unemployed, while Mrs Silverii is paid $174,000 a year as a congresscritter. They should be able to afford child care in ways that the Little People cannot.

But what amuses me most were the two photos the good Representative included in her tweet. One shows her posing with her young son in the entrance to the United Airlines flight she was taking in front of the open cockpit door! The second shows her, still holding her infant son, visiting in the cockpit with the pilot and co-pilot. Since the security measures imposed following the September 11^th al Qaeda terrorist attacks, how many Americans get to do that?

Mrs Silverii, brave fighter for ordinary Americans, was showing off her tremendous privilege, showing off the fact that she’s not like us commoners at all. She’s got her congressional privilege, her blonde privilege, and her #prettyprivilege all at once, and exposed it to the world. No one would have allowed Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI 12^th District) to pose like that!
