In news which is no surprise, former state Representative Charles Booker has declared for the Democratic nomination to face incumbent Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) in the 2022 election.
Mr Booker said last March that he was “strongly considering” running for the Senate in 2022, and, as we have previously noted, in April formed an exploratory committee on the subject.
The candidate also wanted to run for the Senate in 2020, against incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and was endorsed by the Lexington Herald-Leader in what the Editorial Board called “passion over pragmatism” over Lt Col Amy McGrath Henderson, USMC (Ret.) in their primary contest; Mrs Henderson won the nomination narrowly.
She went on to lose to Senator McConnell by a landslide margin.
Well, with all of that time running for the Senate, and planning to run for the Senate, one would think that Mr Booker would be able to tell the voters of Kentucky just what he would actually plan to do as a senator if he won. But if one thought that, he would be wrong.
Visiting Mr Booker’s campaign website, I expected to find an issues page, but, at least as of July 1, 2021, that page does not exist. His website has a Meet Charles page, a We Believe page, and, of course, a Donate page. He’s willing to sell you campaign merchandise, but not willing to tell you, specifically, what you would be buying in a candidate. He was willing to tell us, in his We Believe page, that, “Because Black, White or Brown, we all want a society where every single person can be safe in their homes without the fear of being killed by the government agencies we pay to protect us,” harping on the death of Breonna Taylor, killed when police returned fire from her boyfriend in a no knock warrant raid, but somehow failing to note that, as of the Louisville Metro Police Department’s June 27th report, an even 100 people had been murdered in Mr Booker’s home town.
That’s an 81.81% increase over the 55 murders at the same point last year, but Mr Booker doesn’t seem worried about that! But, let’s face facts, the left do not want to talk about the great increase in the number of homicides in our large cities, because talking about such might lead to talking about some unfortunate statistics about just who is being killed, and by whom.
In very Republican Kentucky, Mr Booker wouldn’t seem to have much of a chance. He might do his home state some good by working in his home town, and trying to do something, anything he could, about all of those young black men shooting other young black men.
From the clip I saw, Mr Booker said, “I’m counting down the days until they start saying the ‘n’ word about me.” What “n” word would that be, nincompoop?
Come January 3, 2023, the “n” word about Mr Booker will be “not our senator.”
