We reported on Tuesday how many law enforcement agencies in Kentucky were cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and now we’re seeing some of the same in the Keystone State. The activists are, of course, thoroughly incensed:
“We don’t need our local police enforcing federal law. It is not their job and has proven time and again to harm public safety,” said Jasmine Rivera, executive director of the Pennsylvania Immigration Coalition. “ICE and billionaires profiting off federal contracts are making billions of dollars from kidnapping our people. They are terrorizing families and attacking our neighbors who are literally building our communities. We don’t need $240 billion of our tax dollars to go to ICE and [U.S. Customs and Border Protection]; we need that money to make education, healthcare, and housing affordable.”
It wasn’t that long ago that our good friends on the left were telling us that “no one is above the law,” during their efforts to put then-former President Donald Trump in jail. Now, returned to office, Mr Trump agrees with that statement, and is enforcing our immigration laws, and shazamm! the left are trying to say that illegal immigrants should be above the law!

ICE arrested nearly 50 immigrant workers in two central Pennsylvania operations, advocates say
The Pennsylvania Immigration Coalition said the arrests represent the largest work-place raid in the state to date.

ICE agents arrested at least 49 immigrant construction workers in two separate operations carried out in the last week in the central Pennsylvania community of Danville, according to immigration advocates.
All remain in detention, they said.
The arrests targeted workers who were leaving the EwingCole construction site at the Geisinger Medical Center, where a patient tower is being built.
At least 41 people were arrested on Sept. 2 as they left the property around 5 p.m., and eight more were arrested on Tuesday, beginning about 6 a.m., according to Centre County Rapid Response Network, an immigrant-assistance group, and the Pennsylvania Immigration Coalition. The men are nationals from Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, and other countries.
Were they here illegally? Remember: no one is above the law, so they’ve got to go!

In a statement, the Geisinger Medical Center said it was aware of law enforcement activity on Sept. 2 that involved workers from its tower construction project. The activity did not occur on Geisinger property, it said.
“As with any large construction project, we hire a construction manager to oversee the project,” the statement said. “It is their responsibility to make sure all workers on the project meet all federal and state work eligibility requirements.”
Translation: Geisinger is washing their hands of the whole thing, blaming the unnamed construction manager. Certainly, if the manager did not do his job, and vet the workers and subcontractors’ employees, he would be liable. But if Geisinger was willingly turning a blind eye to the “nationals from Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, and other countries,” Geisinger ought to be held liable as well. Forty-nine “immigrant construction workers,” and no one even noticed that hey, there are a lot of men here who look like they might not all be citizens?
It’s not as though immigrants from Hispanic countries are somehow not recognizable. It’s certainly true that such people could be here legally, but somehow, some way, no one from Geisinger or EwingCole, the design, architectural and engineering firm, or the unnamed general contractor, or anyone else even suspected that among four dozen construction workers around who mostly, though perhaps not all, looked like “nationals from Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, and other countries” there might have been some workers who were in the country illegally.
The federal government needs to investigate how so many people who should have known, or at least suspected, there were illegal immigrants working there said or did nothing, and hold those who held positions in which they should have done something and did not accountable. Hold some good Americans who turn a blind eye to illegal immigration accountable, holding them accountable through prison sentences, and the entire problem will correct itself, as those who haven’t been caught at it yet will clean up their acts almost immediately. I’d guess that the “planners, architects, interior designers, and engineers” at Ewing Cole, white collar professionals all, would be seriously chastened by the thought of spending a year or two, or even just a few months, in even a medium security federal prison. I’d guess that the high muckety-mucks at Geisinger would be appalled at the idea of spending time as a guest of Uncle Sam at FCI Loretto.
Remember: no one is above the law!
The good people of Montour County, where Danville is located, voted for this! The voters of the county gave 59.99% of their votes, 5,944 of them, to President Trump in 2024, and only 38.98%, 3,862 votes, to then-Vice President Kamala Harris Emhoff. The local police department cooperated:
Immigration advocates said that ICE agents made the arrests with the assistance of Danville police, that workers driving cars were stopped as they left, and that police followed other workers from the edges of Geisinger property to their homes.
Isn’t that what the voters of Montour County wanted? Pennsylvanians as a whole voted for Mr Trump! Yes, it was close, 50.37% to 48.66%, but if you throw out the votes of Philadelphia, as should always be done to get to the true Pennsylvanians, Mr Trump won 3,398,997 (53.84%) to 2,854,471 (45.21%), almost a landslide.
It’s simple: illegal immigration has to be fought at both ends of the problem, the illegals who come here, and the Americans who lure them. Start going after the people who illegally employ the illegals, and the illegals will have no reason to come here, no way of surviving if they are here. Forcible deportation is necessary, but the illegals leaving on their own because they have no jobs is easier and better.
Hold everyone accountable!
