Did I jinx the city of Lexington? The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Saturday afternoon that:
(This) was the third weekend in a row for fatal shootings in Lexington, after six months when no homicides were reported.
I noted, on August 14th:
Lexington, Kentucky, current population 329,791, has seen four murders so far in 2026. Philly has 4.77 times Lexington’s population, but 27 times as many murders.
I’d like to think that the gang-bangers in Lexington didn’t take what I wrote as a personal challenge!

Multiple shootings in Lexington late Friday and early Saturday left two people dead and two others injured.
Officers found a male with a gunshot wound when they were called to the 300 block of Redding Road at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, the Lexington Police Department said in a news release. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
At about 4:15 a.m., police were called to the 1000 block of Cross Keys Road, where they found a male with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman with a gunshot wound that was not believed to be life-threatening was taken to a hospital after police were called to the 600 block of Ohio Street at about 3:25 a.m., police said.
And a male with a gunshot wound that was not thought to be life-threatening walked into a local hospital for treatment at about 9:45 p.m. Friday night. Police said Saturday morning that they were still working to determine where the shooting occurred.
Dear Lexington gang-bangers: emulating Killadelphia isn’t a particularly wise idea. You’re far more likely to get caught in Lexington, and the city just convicted Brandon Dockery for murder, for murder due to utter stupidity.
