It was a brief story, totally Philadelphia in nature:
Two 13-year-old boys were shot in Southwest Philly while allegedly attempting to steal a car, police said
The shooting occurred shortly before 6:15 p.m. in the alleyway between the 5900 blocks of Windsor Avenue and Belmar Terrace, police said.

Two 13-year-old boys allegedly attempting to steal a vehicle were shot by the owner during a confrontation Tuesday evening in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
Shortly before 6:15 p.m., police said the boys were allegedly attempting to steal a vehicle in the alleyway between the 5900 blocks of Windsor Avenue and Belmar Terrace when the vehicle’s owner came out and confronted them.
The vehicle owner told police that he came out to confront the juvenile miscreants, when one of the boys pulled out a gun, and a gunfight ensued. The story tells us that the owner “reportedly” has a concealed carry permit, and was not wounded in the fight. Both boys were wounded, in their “lower bodies,” and taken to CHOP, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Two other male juveniles were identified by the owner as being with the two who were shot.
You know how it goes: if one of the injured boys dies, his mother and her unemployed, live-in boyfriend will be wailing that her son was a good boy, and the car owner shouldn’t have shot him over a piece of property. They’ll be demanding answers!
I’m guessing all the parties involved were black. If that is the case, the whole story will quickly be memory-holed.
